I don’t know how I forgot to mention these guys when discussing succulents, but if you don’t have an Aloe Plant at home you should get one.
Not only does this plant have a great vibrant green color and is easy to take care of but it has all these amazing health benefits in the flesh produced. Plant care is the same as all other succulents so I wont repeat them below but here are some great ways to use your plant when the leaves are large enough.
- Some of the active ingredients are sulphur, salicylic acid, urea nitrogen & phenol which are substances that prevent the growth of disease and help eliminate internal infections when digested. Aloe has also been linked to helping with digestion and even weight loss. There are many recipes online for smoothies, salads and other great dishes.
- When used externally it is a great disinfectant, germicidal, anti fungal and even anti viral. I have been using the stalks of one of mine on my surgery site and the area is healing so nicely without any other care.
- The high water content in the aloe plant is a great way to hydrate and rejuvenate your skin and is harmless enough to add to your daily skin care routine.
I find the benefits are well worth the little care these plants require, I am considering getting a second one. What about you?
