Gifts & Gadgets Archive

I thought I would be the girl who grew up eating out and hopefully never stepping into a kitchen and having to cook more then a grilled cheese or heating up some pizza. Once I got sick and started eating a clean diet, I was forced to spend some more time in the kitchen. Now I love the kitchen and am excited to come home after work and create something delicious, it definitely helps that I have Brian to experiment with.

Having such little cooking & baking experience before, Brian and I have been slowly gearing up our kitchen one gadget at a time.

We started with cast iron pans, which there will definitely be a lot more posts about

Then we bought some salt blocks to experiment some more

Once we started getting lazy we added a Kuerig into our kitchen, what a life saver in the morning

I make a lot of smoothies and after my very old blender finally died on me, I thought it would be worth it to invest in a Vitamix. Money well spent!

Over the weekend Brian really wanted to make liege waffles which required a good mixer, so off we went and came home with this…. Read more…

Have I mentioned how much Brian loves bacon? I have never met some one so in love with pork belly, I believe he loves it more then anything else in the world. Over the weekend, we came across a great addition to our kitchen. Isn’t it a perfect pairing with our clay pig?

Most of the apartment has been equally decorated by me and Brian, but there is definitely a big pig influence creeping in, especially with this and this also in our kitchen.

Here are some other great etsy finds to follow the bacon theme that I have considered adding to our place.

Are you a pork/bacon fan?

I always thought I would decorate the kitchen with different floral arrangements, but now its more food themed. What about your kitchen?

Me and Brian are more into indoor exercising, such as rock climbing or yoga, but with the warmer weather I have been craving some outdoor fun, and luckily Brian agreed. With my foot still recovering I knew hiking was out of the picture, so we decided to try biking instead. I have not gone biking in a long time and was very happy to do so again, even though we were both exhausted after. We went late enough where it wasn’t too hot and had a great ride exploring the neighborhood and parks nearby. We both have bikes but are probably do for an upgrade, once we are in Charleston it will definitely be on the top of our list.

The store Public, is based in San Francisco, but delivers throughout the US. Here is our favorites:

My favorite is the Dutch Commuter Bike, $679

The Mixte Bike is the perfect color, $799

Brian’s favorite is the Electric Bike, $1999, we will have to save up for that one.

We hope to take another bike ride this weekend. We are also going to a Shovels & Rope concert this evening which I am very excited about.

What are your plans for the weekend? Going outdoors or staying in relaxing?

We have a Roomba at home to help clean up all the hair that I shed. I wish I was small enough to ride around on it but found this video to be hugely entertaining.

Hannah raves about the Roomba all the time to the point of me being a little jealous. While browsing the internet with her today I was happy to find that she is somewhat normal compared to all these other pet parents.

What do you think of this hilarious article?

I am getting more and more excited as our sailing classes are coming up. I want to have the perfect outfit for the first day out on the water, and since I have the shoes covered, now I just have to worry about comfortable clothing.

Some of my ideas for outfits:

I like the classic, comfortable look of this outfit – Wrinkle Resistant Shirt $50, Stretch Pants $50

It would be great to wear a skort but then it might get chilly, the hoodie would be more comfortable but the cardigan is so cute- Hoodie $55, Skort $45 & Coveside Cardigan $65.

A sporty outfit with an awesome pop of color, Short sleeve crew neck $30, Slim leg capri $55

What do you think of the outfits? Which should I wear the first day out?

The Mouth is a great online store filled with indie goodies from all over New York. Since Brian has been taking such good care of me since my surgery, I got him a little thank you gift, the Big Jerk gift bag filled with a variety of jerkies. Both of us loved it so much, I thought it would be a perfect add on to the Fathers Day gift list I thought of before.

If you are a late planner and still have not thought of any gifts for your dad, here is your last minute save.

This store is filled with so many choices that even the pickiest or most spoiled Dad will still find something to buy. Let them pick by ordering a gift card and printing it straight from home.

Have you found the perfect gift for your dad? Or you a big procrastinator like me?

Getting back to work after spending 4 days at home is tough. I am missing my Charlie and just want to be back at home cuddling up with her again. To make myself feel better I started searching through Etsy for some more Great Dane memorabilia. How cute is this stuff? I am running out of wall space…
