I really hope that I am not the only girl who once in a while looks at her man and becomes envious when they can throw on a pair of jeans and a basic button down and look so put together and ready to head out. When I try to do that I need to throw on a belt, some jewelry, go through 4 different pairs of jeans to find one that works well with the shirt and then deal with my hair, shoes & etc. Sound familiar?

I came across this company which has the most gorgeous shirts and am so excited to get my first shipment. I am hoping a few of these added to my wardrobe will help my morning routine go a little quicker.

tradlands-the-northampton-photo-gallery-image-08_grandeDo you have any wardrobe staples that are the perfect go to pieces on the days where you feel there is nothing to wear?

The minute I am home I am running to get under my blankets and trying to warm up. No matter how many layers of clothing I wear I feel the only way I really warm up is under many layers of blankets.

This does not mean I don’t enjoy browsing those next possible layers of clothes to wear. My favorites this winter:

Untitled4

Endless Shirt, $78, I love baggy shirts and like how long and lean it looks.

Untitled3

Cashmere Tunic, $298, this is great for a pop of color in the gloomy winter, and warm to boot. Maybe if it goes on sale it can end up in my closet 🙂

Untitled2

Cashmere Pocket Hoodie, $288, the tomboy in me really loves this hoodie, Brians voice in me says its not the most flattering, but probably very warm and comfy which is why I would still throw it in my sweater collection.

Any awesome new finds that were added to your closet recently? I would love to hear.

Some of my want lists in the past here, here, here and here!

I don’t think Hannah realizes how chilly I can get when the temperature drops. Even though I am big compared to others, I have little insulation when it comes to fat or fur. Hannah noticed that I was shivering the other evening and we have decided to go in search for a winter jacket. Hopefully this will be the last year we will need one for me.

Do your pets get a layer of clothing when the temperatures drop through the fall and winter?

Here are my top picks for jackets:

Untitled3

Riders Turnout Sheet $25, a great light weight jacket with a waterproof outer shell and a warm inner lining. Perfect for the fall weather up here on the northeast coast.

Untitled2

Rambo Dog Blanket $49, looks super warm and is adorable with the stripes and multiple colors to choose from.

Untitled

Blue Ribbon Custom Jacket $79. This is my favorite jacket because it has many layers of warmth and yet is still very comfortable to wear. A plus is that you can pick whatever color and trim you want and a personal monogram can be added.

All the jackets above are from Dover Saddlery which is mostly for horses but they have a great selection of dog jackets, collars and leashes.

Muttluks is another great company, mostly known for their perfect dog booties, has a few winter jackets that look great when it comes to the brutal winter.

Untitled4

3 Layer Belted Winter Coat $64, how gorgeous would green or pink look on me? The jacket is super warm which is helpful when it is more then just about looks.

Jogger Jacket $77, this may be a little excessive but looks super warm and am actually considering it even with the goofy look.

What do you think of our top picks? Do you have any other recommendations?

This weekend Brian and I are heading to Boston, and I have been excited planning for it all week. Of course I woke up this morning with the scratchiest painful throat 🙁 I hope it heals before Saturday morning.

In the mean time I am longingly looking at all these warm chunky sweaters and want them all wrapped around my sore throat right now:

Hooded Wood Scarf $98- My favorite!!!

In the mean time I will rest with a big cup of hot lemon ginger tea with lots of honey.

What types of scarves do you like to wear? Any good remedies for a sore throat?

I stopped using the title of want list for my posts because I feel it sounds very eager and that I really want those items in my life. Which technically is the case but… the big butt… I dont have these items in my apartment or in my life because I dont have room for them and I have a drooly dirty dog which means I need to avoid nicer more expensive stuff. I decided in the mean time my posts will continue in a dream list.

First up: Jeans. I woke up yesterday, couldn’t get out from under the blanket and realized fall has arrived. Once I did get up I realized I do not have one decent pair of jeans so off to the mall I went. Brian has bought every pair of his jeans from Lucky Brand so I figured I would give them a try as well. I left the store very happy!

If I had the room in my closet I would get a pair of all these:

I love skinny jeans but it is not the easiest for me to find a pair that fits me well, but of course, yesterday they all fit perfectly. I liked the low rise and mid waist and they come in a variety of colors.

Brian is not a fan of boyfriend jeans, but these are so comfortable!

The boot cut pair really should not be on this list because I ended up buying them. They made my short legs look long and lean. I was super excited to walk out with these!

If any guys are interested Brian really like the Straight jeans because they are relaxed along his legs, and I love them because they still have a bootylicious fit 🙂

What do you think? Are you a fan of Lucky Brand jeans or do you prefer a different brand?

I grew up in a big house with my own room and a lot of closet space, and as a girl, I always strived to have that closet packed to the brim. Now Brian and I share a studio apartment with one dresser and one small closet to split our clothes between the two of us. It was a challenge at first but after donating a lot of unnecessary clothing and then some reorganization we have been making it work for about a year now.

However I looked into our closet earlier this week and realized it was in need of some reorganizing. There were hangers tangled everywhere, clothes falling from the top and shoes all over the floor. I was in shock when I realized how bad it had become without me doing something with it before.

SONY DSCI was looking through to find how I could make our closet a little easier to navigate and everyone recommended some Ultra Thin Velvet Hangers. I bought the one above and donated all the ones below (just the size of all these plastic hangers took up too much space).

After just an hour of cleaning up and putting in the new hangers, it felt like we had a new closet (and some extra space for more clothes)!

I always feel like I need to do some more clothes shopping as a reward gift for myself after tackling small projects like this.

What do you think? Have you done any clothes purging or closet organizing recently?

Yesterday was our first sailing class! It was definitely an overload on new terminology but I have no doubt that some prep work and studying will do the trick. This weekend we will get to spend time out on the water on a 24ft sailboat and then hopefully be certified to sail on our own by Sunday evening.

The first thing we learned in class is that our wardrobes need a little boost when it comes to sailing. This week Brian and I will be on the lookout for a good amount of items we need before we hit sail.

Regulars shoes or going barefoot is really not preferable. Deck shoes have razor cut soles, which are special slits that open as the foot flexes and allows the shoe to grip on a wet deck, and keeps you from busting your ass. Most shoes also have dark soles that can mark the deck which is a no-no. I thought it would be pretty easy to find but I think both Brian and I are pickier then we thought.

Henri Lloyd shoes look great and they have sizes for both men and women. These Valencia Leather shoes are my favorite and are highly rated.

Untitled

Another great variety that steps away from the typical deck shoe look is the Octoskins. I like them because they are a little more feminine then the shoes I was considering before.

Both Brian and I wear glasses and see pretty poorly without them but on the boat there is a fear of having them fall off, so as dorky as they look, we will both be wearing glass keepers on all our future sails.

Chums makes a very simple and cheap glasses keeper and it comes in a variety of colors which I think is a perk to such a goofy look.

Untitled

I think Brian will prefer a pair of Croakies since they look a little more macho. Which do you think will look better on us?

Most of your time on the sailboat is spent looking up at the sails which also means looking up into the sun. Hats unfortunately are not flattering on me or Brian, but it is a must when you are out on the water.

GIL134

I don’t think Brian will agree to wearing a visor, but I love the Gil Visor, especially with the little cord to hold the glasses keeper.

And last but not least are sailing gloves. The sailing classes list these as optional, but with my little frail hands I am not even considering going without them. Brian thinks the opposite of me regarding the gloves and is going to go without them for the first weekend and just see how he feels.

GIL7041B

There are companies that offer more feminine version with pink or purple, but every sailing blog out there has mentioned how amazing the Gil Deckhand Gloves are and I will be picking the perfect fit later today.

I feel once we have these items figured out, and I pick the outfit and the shoes (or these shoes), we will be ready to go.

We are both very excited and cant wait to share our adventures, as long as we pass :)!!!

I love summer, not only for the warm weather, but because everyone brings out their A game when it comes to style. It is also when my wallet is the least happiest because I am trying to catch up on the new styles and I overfill my wardrobe. I come to the blog world hoping that you can help me make a decision on the next pair of shoes I should keep.

These are all Sperry Boat Shoes, super comfortable and cute. I wish I could keep them all but unfortunately I can only pick one. What do you think? Which do you like the most?

I love the rain, but you know who doesn’t? Charlie. Every time I have to drag her out into the rain, and then bring her home and have to endure the wet dog smell, I vow to myself I will buy her a raincoat.

Here are some ridiculously cute raincoats that Charlie will probably look pathetic in but I will torture her with anyway.

My favorite: Mountaineering Raincoat, $31

I will most likely be getting this raincoat for Charlie since Kyjen has great quality products: Outward Hound Designer Rain Jacket, $45

I think Charlie would “enjoy” this one the most but it’s a little pricey: Great Dane Raincoat, $111

Brian promised that if I buy this one for Charlie, he will get a tracksuit to match: Full Body Raincoat, $110

I am getting more and more excited as our sailing classes are coming up. I want to have the perfect outfit for the first day out on the water, and since I have the shoes covered, now I just have to worry about comfortable clothing.

Some of my ideas for outfits:

218680_8792_41

I like the classic, comfortable look of this outfit – Wrinkle Resistant Shirt $50, Stretch Pants $50

286688_28439_41

It would be great to wear a skort but then it might get chilly, the hoodie would be more comfortable but the cardigan is so cute- Hoodie $55, Skort $45 & Coveside Cardigan $65.

288017_1_41

A sporty outfit with an awesome pop of color, Short sleeve crew neck $30, Slim leg capri $55

What do you think of the outfits? Which should I wear the first day out?
